Do's &
Don'ts for Permed Hair
Do
- Wait 48 hours before shampooing your hair.
- Wait 2 weeks to use conditioner on your hair unless your
stylist instructs you to do so.
- Let your hair hang loose for the first 3 days after your perm.
Your hair is extremely fragile and should be handled with gentle
care.
- Rinse your hair with water for the first 2 days to help the
curl bounce back.
Don't
- Don't shampoo your hair for the first 48 hours or you will
cause your perm to become more relaxed and more frizzy.
- Don't use conditioner for the first 2 weeks unless your stylists
instructs you to do so.
- Another thing to remember is that you should not pull your
hair into a barrette or pony band for the first 3 days of your
perm. If you pull your hair back it could become very limp.

Keeping your
Perm Fresh!
Here are a few steps to keep your perm looking fresh!
- Allow your hair to air dry or use a diffuser to keep your
perm intact. If you use a blow dryer, curling iron, hot rollers
or any heat appliance your perm will relax and become frizzy.
- You should not stand under a hot forceful shower.
- Try to use products suggested by your stylist. This will insure
the product will help your hair look it's best. By buying over
the counter products you may make your hair look and feel heavy
and dry because most over the counter products contain oil,
lanolin, and wax which weight down hair and dry it out.
- By using a pick on your hair instead of a comb or a brush,
you will keep your perm looking healthy and fresh!
